Archistories 104251 Aged concrete Kit Redbank Coaling Tower Kit
With the Redbank Coaling Tower, we are reviving the era of the mighty steam locomotives in the United States, which came to an end in the late 1950s.
This mighty, bizarrely designed coal tower consists of a passageway for delivering coal and a conveyor system that runs diagonally upwards inside the building, leading to a round storage container with a conical roof resting on a platform. Chutes attached below and to the side of this platform filled the coal into the tenders of the locomotives.
Today, the Redbank Coaling Tower, built entirely of concrete, can still be seen in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, directly on the Allegheny River. The tracks, however, have disappeared. In their place today runs the Armstrong Trail, a hiking trail that follows the former course of the railroad line.
