An autorack, also known as an auto carrier is a specialized piece of railroad rolling stock used to transport automobiles and light trucks. In 2004, Canadian National was at the forefront of autorack technology again by using lightweight aluminum. The new cars, built by Johnstown America Corporation beginning in December 2004, are brand named AVC, an acronym for Aluminum Vehicle Carrier.
